So Busy!

I guess this was not the best time to start a blog - right before Quilt Market (the biggest trade show for the quilting industry.) I have been swamped the last few weeks getting the new lines ready, correcting samples, getting stuff shipped (the show is in Pittsburgh), etc. The show is only twice a year, but it seems like we are constantly getting ready for it.

This week I also put the finishing touches on a new collection, Splendor. My mom (Sharon) and I found this great antique artwork from France. It was painted sometime in the late 1800s. I'm not sure what it was originally for - each painting is only one corner of a design - maybe they were for scarves or table cloths. Anyway - I added a little Floragraphix-style to them and a new line was born. You can see the whole collection at the In The Beginning website.

Well - back to packing!

First Post!

So I am finally blogging - I think. My plan is to update this every couple days - we'll see. I'm going to try and keep this from becoming one big ad for the things I design, but it will contain lots of pictures things I am working on, insights on the process I use to come up with designs and products, and updates on new things.

This week I have just finished putting the final touches on two new books, Wintergraphix Holiday Projects, and Floragraphix IV Quilt Designs. The Wintergraphix book has been really fun to work on - though the time line has been a little crazy. I did most of the fabric and project design last summer (2008) for this coming winter 2009! It is odd working so far ahead.

Floragraphix IV - the fabrics and book - has also been really fun to work on. It is always a challenge coming up with new things - but really rewarding when you come up with something you like. I am really excited about these new fabrics and projects. The advance yardage from the mill is suppose to get here next week - I can't wait to see it. Up until now I have done everything digitally - it will be great to see actual cloth and get some of the quilts made (right now thet are all just digital versions!)

All the fabrics and book projects can be seen at the In The Beginning website http://www.inthebeginningfabrics.com/
